Higher Education Support Act 2003 GuidelinesThe HESA 2003 Guidelines are delegated legislation authorised by the Act and must be presented to both Houses of the Parliament. They can be disallowed (vetoed) by a motion agreed to by either House of Parliament within 15 sitting days of tabling. Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines (2007) The amendments for the 2007 Guidelines were approved by the Minister on 30 October 2006. A consolidated version can be found below. Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines (2007)The Minister for Education, Science and Training approved the Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines on 5 September 2005. They comprise the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS), Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA), Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) and Indigenous Staff Scholarships (ISS). The 2005 Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships chapter (chapter 4) is included and a revised chapter may be submitted for clearance separately, at a later date. Note to potential Commonwealth Scholarships applicants: Individual higher education providers (ie universities) administer the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS), Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) programmes on behalf of the Australian Government. The providers are responsible for conducting their own application and selection procedures, in line with guidelines issued by the Commonwealth. Potential applicants for these Scholarships need to direct their enquiries on application procedures, deadlines, etc to the higher education providers at which they are studying or plan to study. Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines (2007)Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS)The requirements for the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships are in Chapter 2 of the Commonwealth Scholarships Guidelines 2007. In determining whether an applicant has come from a regional or remote area, higher education providers should be guided by the Australian Standard Geographic Classification (ASGC) Remoteness Areas classification. Applicants from localities other than those belonging to the Major Cities of Australia classification may meet that particular requirement.
